How It Works
These are self-contained RO units that sit on your countertop. You fill a feed tank with tap water, and an internal pump forces water through the same pre-filter, carbon, and RO membrane stages found in under-sink systems. Clean water collects in a dispensing tank or carafe. No plumbing connection needed - just an electrical outlet. Waste water collects in the feed tank and gets poured out or reused for plants.
What It Removes
Removes Well
- TDS and dissolved minerals (90-95%)
- Lead, arsenic, chromium, and heavy metals
- Fluoride
- PFAS/PFOA/PFOS (P473 certified models)
- Microplastics
- Bacteria and viruses
Does NOT Remove
- Same limitations as standard RO - beneficial minerals removed
- Higher waste ratio than under-sink models (typically 4:1)
Installation
None. Plug in and pour. Ideal for renters and anyone who cannot modify plumbing. Takes up counter space (roughly 14 x 14 x 17 inches).
